FROM THE DESK OF MARK OWERE
UNION BANK OF NIGERIA, BIG, STRONG,RELIABLE!
DIRECTOR CREDIT CONTROLS DEPT.
PRIVATE EMAIL: m_owere@excite.com

Strictly confidential

I know this proposal will come to you as a surprise especially when you do not know the writer, considering the huge sum of money involved which could make any apprehensive.

Let me start by introducing myself to you, I am Mark Owere, Director (Credit Control Dept.) UNION BANK of NIGERIA plc, Lagos. I saw your contact during my private search at the information center here in Nigeria chamber of commence and industry and I want to believe that you will be very honest, committed and capable of assisting in this business venture.

Firstly, let me explain the source of this funds and what you are expected to do. A foreigner late engineer Theophilous Baker, an oil

merchant/contractor with the government of Nigeria, until his death, over a year ago, was a victim of Kenya airways: bus (a310-300) flight kq430 plane crash. The deceased engineer Theophilous Baker, banked with us and has a closing balance as a July 2000 worth $4.5m (four million five hundred thousand US Dollars). Which my bank, now expects a next-of-kin to claim as the beneficiary of the funds, efforts has been made by Union Bank of Nigeria to get in touch with the baker's family or relative but to no success.

Based on the perceived possibility of not being able to locate engineer Theophilous' next-of-kin, the management under the influence of our chairman and the board of directors are making arrangements for the funds to be declared unclaimed and channeled to an unknown account. It is based on this that we have contacted you to stand as the next-of-kin of late Engr. Theophilous Baker so that the funds, will be released and paid into your account as the beneficiary and the next-of-kin to the deceased.

All documents, and proof to enable you get the funds have been carefully worked out as we have secured from the different offices concerned for the smooth transfer of the fund to your nominated account. It has been agreed that the owner of the account will be compensated with 20% of the remitted funds, while we keep 75% and 5% will be set aside to offset expenses both locally and international.

If this proposal satisfies you, please reach us only by mail or phone, for more information. It might be difficult to get through to me, because of poor telecommunication system here. Please keep trying you will definitely get through.

Yours faithfully,

Mark Owere

Dear Mr Owere

Here at the agency we are greatly mystified as to how you have managed to get this address. But after speaking to my associate Miles Archer, we feel you should at least know perhaps you have sent this to the wrong people, as it seems an confidential matter. Naturally if we can help you in a professional matter, then please let us know.

If it is really meant for us, then I must admit to be very excited, for this is the stuff that dreams are made of.

I am looking forward to consolidating our relationship in the near future. Please I will like to use this same opportunity to re-affirm my pledge for confidentiality as you know this transaction must me kept secret because of it's nature.

Dear Mark

Your prompt response is quite a surprise, as Miles thought we had heard the end of this. To be honest, we have just finished a tough antique avine reclaimation case for Kaspar Gutman (perhaps a name familiar in your own country?) and it has left us rather exhausted, as well as short of a few dollars, so this opportunity is very exciting.

However, I have trust your number and it was not connecting. This is a great shame as we'll talk if you like. I'll tell you right out, I'm a man who likes talking to a man who likes to talk.

You will appreciate that it is very late - or early - here and that I am a bit tired to act so quickly as you might wish. Its been a long day. What is it I have to do exactly? I have two attachments from you now, and it is not entirely clear. When my secretary Brigid O'Shaughnessy comes in later then no doubt she be able to sort things out and you may hear from her directly. I have already written asking a question about the form you wish me to submit to the bank in support of this claim. Did you not receive this message? I am very concerned now that this is not running smoothly. I was asking what identity I should adopt and how legal was the enterprise.

I am sorry for not responding before, but I have just come back after interviewing a new client, one General Sternwood (something of an orchid fancier as it turns out, with a wayward daughter). In fact I was so tired when I got in that I had to have a big sleep.

However, Miles and I are now both eager to proceed with this.

Dear Mark

My apologies for this embarrassment, I was typing hastily after rather a long day and naturally Miles and I don't want to make things difficult for you!

Perhaps I should explain why I am so tired. It was another animal case we've just finished, this time some stolen badgers, quite valuable animals out here as it happens, because of the fur percentage. (Do you have such crimes where you are?) Miles and I eventually tracked down the culprits and then confronted them with their crime. Although it is nominally a criminal matter, the owner wanted the issue resolved peaceably enough. There was the usual denials and arguments, which I can still hear now: 'Badgers? We ain't got no badgers.' 'We don't need no badgers.' 'I don't have to show you any stinking badgers', on and on, very annoying it was, that sort of thing and very tiring by the time we returned to the office - so you can see why my concentration was affected.

Anyway please let u know quickly how the claim should be progressing, we are very excited about matters and grateful for this opportunity, rest assured. If you feel we should support matters with affadavits and other information, I can ask an attorney friend of mine, who lives in Sierra Madre to draw them up. His name is Fred C Dobbs and he's a real treasure.

The chance of making this much money is very exciting as I am growing tired of this investigative work. In a lonely place like this ,there can be some real desperate hours by any sober, dead reckoning, and I am pleased to be thinking of giving the whole business the long goodbye. Perhaps a long vacation to somewhere exotic, like Sirocco or Casablanca? I can't decide. Can you recommend anywhere out where you are? Perhaps I could get to meet a real princess or an African queen and settle down with all this money after all I will be very rich, right? I guess I am a bit light headed writing like this.

It would be a relief if you could get this sorted out as soon as possible, there are too many questions being asked for my liking, if this proves a dead end I might have to book passage to Marseille! It would be desperate hours indeed, as I am sure we're no angels.

Do you like Israeli cusine by the way? Bridget is preparing a special dish for us all tonight as a sort of early celebration, made of fresh herbs, plenty of elisha, red wine spinach and mushrooms. She is an excellent chef of this sort of food stuff, and I am getting to be quite skilful myself, a sort of elisha cook junior.

Perhaps we meet up I can whip something up by way of real celebration. Miles and I, Bridget and my young ward, Bond can make a real thing of it, the sort of happy ending one normally only sees in films.

As for the type of business we can share the proceed with I hardly dare think. Have you ever considered the restaurant business?

Sir

I know that you received my last message, and my good fellow, sadly your obstinacy is not your most engaging trait. In my line of work I like to talk to a man who likes to talk, and not . My associate Cairo is eager to take further steps, to follow up the opening advantage so to speak, but I have managed to persuade the fellow to hold off a little.

But here's to plain speaking and clear understanding. Let us both be reasonable. I know you have the bird, why pretend otherwise? There can be profit in this for both of us sir, and so let us talk soon.

Dear Rev Aka

I am getting ready to transfer the money.

Was the will alright? I am worrying about it.

What is Forex Productions by the way? Is it connected with lager brewing? If so I am thinking about opening a restaurant soon with an sharp-minded African business friend of mine, and wondered what sort of drink it is, and if you would supply to Santa Smegaroon?

Dear Sam,

It is quite confusing that way you are treating this my business opportunity. It is now obvious that you lack the business mind to deal woth such a large magnitude of funds and international trading.

Well, I would like you to please write to the Bank that you are going send another family member to continue from where you have stopped in this transaction' coming with his'her own account details. This will enable me to source for another person to assist me and my colleagues. Hopefully somebody capable of handling that kind of business.

Do this for me please today, unfaillling. Ok

Regards,

Mark

Subject: RE: URGENT RESPONSE NEEDED!!!!!!

Dear Mark

My apologies for the delay in response, but a late case came in and Miles and I have been out all night on surveillance, which kept me away from the computer. It was very unfortunate that an old friend, Philip Marlowe, caught me as I was enjoying a quiet drink in our local bar The Brasher Doubloon (world famous by the way, have you heard of it?), mulling over the tremendous opportunities that this business is likely to bring, once concluded. His hearty greeting was rather a distraction, and I remember thinking: of all the bars and gin joints in the world, why did he have to walk into mine? But I owe him a favour and so was obliged to get involved in the Miracksy case, something about a Czech businessman and some missing bullion - completely unsolveable of course.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I hope to transfer the money to the bank shortly. Do they take Mexican dorkcachas?

My dear uncultured and ill-mannered Friend,

It is obvious that I was right, you lack the business mind and etiquette to comprehend simple business transactions.

I wonder what gave you the rights to call my colleagues and I kids: you dissembling bat-fowling measle... You currish half-faced pigeon-egg... You tottering bat-fowling minnow... You impertinent crook-pated vassal... You warped clay-brained harpy.

I know everyone has the right to be stupid, but you abused the privilege. When people drink from the fountain of knowledge, but in your own case you just gargled from it. Cos I wonder when you will stop for a minute to think and make money for your family. How I wish I knew your house number, I would like to speak to your wife to find-out of you are always this stupid and just plain dumb????

Well this will be my very last mail to you.

Good riddance to your bad rubbish.

Regards

Yours Sincerely,

Mugus Aka & Owere (or whatever your real names are)

If you and your bunch of crooks really thought that I would be fooled for a minute by your pathetic scam, then so much the worse for you. But, along the way, every one of your pathetic messages has been enjoyed by many online - as will this last outburst (which seems like it is copied from a book - no doubt stolen). As no doubt the 419 squad in your own country will also enjoy them and follow up the ISP. Check out Scamorama.com and then wonder why you were born so stupid, as well as being such inept cyber thieves.. Incidentally you can obtain a fine mug from their shop as a consolation prize. A big mug for a big mugu - very apt, don't you think?

As for your money, well, you can go whistle for it. You know how to whistle don't you? You put your lips together and blow..
