What a Pillock
The cast
Philip Adama - your average scammer
Hal Munster III - your average victim, except he lives on San Juan Island, in the far northwest of Washington state. The island is remarkable for a thriving whale-watching industry, and for having no Western Union agent.
Sidick Adebayo - your average scammer's sidekick/alter ego at the bank
Stacey Thomas - Hal's randy teenage granddaughter
Mike Udoka - Adama's son and the object of Stacey's affections. Is he lovestruck or just confused.
Pamela Munster - Hal's wife and, according to Adama, unbiblically getting above her station
This is my first attempt and I didn't realise until the end how many emails we exchanged! Adama wasn't as dense as some so I didn't get him to drive round West Africa but I did waste some of his time.

Hi Phil
Greetings from an overcoast, wet Northwest - I guess its a sight warmer where
you are! Great to hear from you - I can tell you with retirement next year I
could sure use some cash. I've $50,000 saved towards my retirement home but $4.5
million means I could set my sights higher!!
Thanks for your phone number - I may be old fashioned but I'm leery of giving
mine out so someone I don't know. Hows about we stick with email for now?
I've had a few questions I want to run past you.
- Seems kinda hard to believe that this guy with $10 million to his name doesn't
have any relatives. What if one turns up after we've done the deal. Guess the
bank would put them on to me, and I sure wouldn't want anyone after me for $10
million (specially if you have $4 million of it).
- What about my name - Munster's not even close to Lin. How will we convince
anyone I'm next of kin? Wil I have to change my name?
- Will I need to come to Nigeria. Never been away from the Northwest - I'll have
to get a passport. Might I catch AIDS? I've heard bad things from Nigeria -
don't you stone people if they get their end away? Will Pamela be safe?
- Should I get an attorney to check out my end of this - I'll need one next year
when we buy that retirement place so I guess I could start looking now.
I guess you've covered all these angles, but please put an old man's mind to
rest.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Hal

Dear Hal,
I thank you for these questions in fact i expected it from you.
I want you to beleive that God has rememberd you this day so as you are
retirering next year you will have more than you expected to establish yourself
and your house hold.
1. when Mr. lin came to our country as an expertriet many years ago as he told
me that after his education he was asked to come and work with one of our oil
makerting companies called shell Development oil company that he did not intend
to stay long but as years come and go he have to stay and head one department of
the coporation.
2.I have worked for him for about 15 years and all his documents that is with me
shows that his wife and child happened to be his next of kin so anybody that I
introduced to bank is his next of kin and I will back the person up with every
neccessary document that is with me to prove that you are really the next of
kin.
your name dose not matter i will cover you up.
You will not come to nigeria and you will not travel out of your country i will
send to you a text of application that you will send to the bank and when that
is done the bank will tell you when and how they will transfer the money to you.
You dont need any attoney in this case i am one and I will stand for you as your
attorney here.
Be rest assured that their is no risk involved in this business in any way as I
will be directing you on what to do and how to do it so fill free to give to me
your telephone number and i will like you to call me for more briefing and my
picture is attached so that you will know who your dealling with and I will also
want you to send yours to me too.

Hi Phil
Just got up to walk the dog - what a lousy morning. Fog, drizzle, you name it.
Anyway, thought I'd check email so thanks for getting back to me - it all sounds
too good to be true but seems you've fixed everything. Thanks for the photo; I
don't have one scanned right now but my daughter's family are coming over this
weekend and her husband's got a digital camera so I'll get him to take a photo.
Will it be OK if I send it this weekend?
I feel like I'm getting to trust you so I'll give you my phone number - its
206-350 0581 and I guess you'll have to put an international code on that. Never
been abroad so I don't know the code - sorry. It's a phone and fax combined but
please be careful using it. I've not told Pamela about our deal and I don't know
what she'd make of calls from Nigerai. Can't wait to get the money though -
she's been fundraising for a new hall at her church for the last 6 months and
has raised $35,000 of the $60,000 they need. I'm looking forward to seeing her
face when I write a check for the difference and more!! But for now it would be
best that I don't make any international calls - its just gonna make her nervous
if she finds out. Email works fine - she's not got my password so we're safe.
I've been thinking that having all your money come to my bank is bound to set
tongues wagging. We're only a small community and everyone knows everybody's
business. Would you be able to put the money in your client account (I guess
attorneys the world over have such things) and transfer my share bit by bit to
me? If this woun't work, maybe I should get an out of state account. What do you
reckon?
Sorry to keep burdening you with questions - this kind of high finance is way
outside of my experience. I'm sure glad I've got someone I can trust to help me!
Let me know what I need to do next (after a cold, wet walk!).
With best wishes,
Hal

Thanks for your email - did you read mine where I said I wasn't sure about
putting this sort of money through my account here. Tongues wag, you know. Do
you have a client account we could use, then send my share bit by bit to me?
We don't go for cell phones round here - the coverage on land is patchy and when
I'm out on the boat, forget it! I've CB back to Pamela and VHF for the
coastguard and they do me just fine.
Let me know what you reckon about the bank account - we don't want to miss that

Hi Phil
Thanks for your email - sorry if I gave you a hard time but I am a little
nervous about this whole business. Tomorrow morning I should get details of my
new bank account, then I'll send your form to the bank.
Well, my daughter and her family have been over for the weekend and her husband
took a photo of me. He's compressed it for the internet and I've attached it, so
hope you get it OK.
Their visit leads to me asking a favor from you. They come from New Jersey and
their oldest, Stacey, is at the Joseph Pillock College which is celebrating its
bicentenery next year. If I can quote from the handout she left me: "It was in
1804 that the wealthy wool merchant and philanthropist, Joseph Pillock, founded
the school which grew to be today's well respected college. It was the wish of
Joseph that the school he founded should, as well as providing a first rate
education, promote a strong interest in the world of which the United States is
but a part. The college is proud to still be honoring Joseph's wish 200 years
later and to mark this, we aim to gather photographs and messages of goodwill
from as many countries as we can." I mentioned to Stacey that I was in email
contact with someone from Nigeria (don't worry - I said that you were hoping to
book a few days' whale-watching on board my boat) and she said it would be
really cool if you could send a photo of you in Nigeria, perhaps in the street
or at a market, holding a sign saying 'I'm for Pillock College'. I said I was
sure you'd be able to do that for her - she is so excited. If you email the
photo to me, I'll send it straight on to her. Many thanks.
I'll look forward to hearing from you, and I'll let you know as soon as I send
the bank their form.

Many thanks for going to the bank - you're sure working your socks off for this
deal. I feel quite guilty sitting over here and doing nothing. You make sure you
keep a record of all your costs, time off work etc as I want you to get all you
deserve with no suggestion that I as the American am ripping you off.
I still have my doubts about this $7,000 - in my country lawyers and banks
invoice once the work is completed. But compared with $10 million it is not too
much so we will just have to grin and bear it! Will you let them know we will
pay, or shall I?
Thanks for getting that photo sorted out over the weekend - I've been getting so
much grief from Stacey that I almost wish I'd never suggested it to her!
I'm off to the dock now - I've bookings for today and tomorrow but that's all
for this season so I reckon I'll fetch the boat out next week. That's the part I
don't like - driving the boat and chatting with my customers is great but I'm
getting too old for all the heavy maintenance. Reckon its about time I was
retiring - how long do you reckon til we see the money?

Dear Mr Adieyo
Many thanks for your email, the contents of which I have noted.
Firstly, I did not mean to imply any dishonesty or underhand dealing on the part
of you or your bank. I am sure that you will act only in the best interests of
my late cousin and I. However, you will appreciate that people's sense of
propriety can be distorted if they are working for a client on the other side of
the planet whose knowledge of the local culture is limited. I therefore wanted
to make it clear, I accept unnecessarily in your case, that although I have
authorised expenditure of up to $7,000 on legal and other costs, I expect all
invoices to be as closely scrutinised as they would be if you were spending your
own money. I am relieved that we see eye to eye on this and that I can rely on
you to look after my interests.
You mentioned the need for a letter of reactivation. Please take this as a
formal request for the bank to reactivate Mr Lin's account.
As previously advised, Mr Philip Adama is looking after my interests in this
matter. I have full confidence in him and he has my authority to act for me. I
have copied him in on this email; please keep him informed of your progress.
Thanks again for your help.
Yours sincerely,

Hi Phil
What is wrong with this bank - why are they asking us for money when they have
more than $10 million already? They should be paying us, not asking us to pay
them. I have told them that they can deduct up to $7,000 from their payment to
us to cover expenses (although I want invoices). They are guaranteed payment
because they have our money - perhaps you should get over there and explain all
this in words of one syllable to their head lawyer.
Thanks for sharing with me your family - it's good to get to know each other on
a more personal basis. Will you all be coming over here once the money is paid?
My house isn't that big and we only have three bedrooms but we could pick up a
holiday let cheap out of season. I'm just off to the dock to fix having the boat
lifted out and the stern gland fettled.
Good luck with the bank, my friend.
Hal
PS - What's this about Western Union? I thought we were dealing with Standard
Chartered Bank. I've never heard of Western Union - is it one of those credit
unions? Will it be them who pay the money to my Citibank account?

Hi Phil
Are you still there - I haven't heard from you for a while?
I did have another thought about this money - do you remember that Pam was
collecting for a new church hall. She hasn't opened an account yet and of the
$36,000 now raised, $11,000 is in cash here at home. If you can guarantee that
the $11 million will be in my account within a week, I might be able to borrow
the cash from the collection. I am leery of doing this, but once the millions
come in I will give the fund all in needs to build a fabulous church hall. What
d'ya reckon, partner?
Cheers for now,
Hal

Hi Phil
Good morning - its a lovely fine day here (this summer is lasting forever) and
I'm off for an early start at the dock today. My boat was slipped yesterday and
there's a few bits of rot need chopping out and new timber gluing in. Keep me
busy for a week or two, unless I get the yard to do it once your money arrives!
Thanks for your emails - I've emailed the bank as you asked. Is this the same
bank as last time - their email was standard1trust1bank@financier.com? Don't let
me down on this - if Pam finds the money missing I'm in deep trouble (police,
feds) so I'm really going out on a limb. Guess I won't sleep much til the
millions are in my bank.
Stacey asked for your email so she could thank you - what photo has she sent? To
be honest she's a bit of a handful and I know Patsy and Michael have had more
than a few run-ins with her. She's mad keen on sport and I reckon mixes with
some wrong-uns. Her brother Stephen is the opposite - good as gold! But Stacey -
we all love her but wish she'd spend a bit more time at home studying.
I'd better head off to the dock - if you do call, be careful if Pam answers the
phone. I don't suppose we'll hear anything from your bank til Monday; isn't it
the end of your working day already (can't get my head round timezones!).
Have a great weekend - hope you sleep better than me!!!

I am very happy to read that you have contacted the bank as I directed you so I
must say thanks for that.
Please do try as much as you can to pay the money to the bank immediately you
receive the bank receiving account from them so that they will transfer the
funds and you will pay pam back her money.
Now the best way to do things in other not to make pam found out that the money
is missing is for you to go to any of the super market or any where and tell
them that you want to send money through westen union money transfer with the
name the bank gave you (Mr. Raphael chinasa) I think when you pay the money and
send the payment information to them the bank will receive the money in the same
day and they will transfer the money immediately into your account and before
she found out you will have the money to pay her back.
I will like to call you so let me know when I can call you.
Say hello to Stacey and tell her that my son's will contact her soon.

Subject:UPS?
To: "philip adama" <adamaphilip@yahoo.com>
Hi Phil
You would be proud of me - I've made a lot of progress on this transfer.
I spoke to Mrs Kirkpatrick at Kings Market, our island general store. She had
heard of Western Union and said that sometimes tourists ask for it to get money
sent from home. 'You learn something new every day,' I told her. But she said
there is no Western Union on San Juan - the nearest is Anacortez which is a
ferry ride away and she had a feeling that only opened in the tourist season.
Otherwise it would be the mainland - probably Seattle. At this my heart sank -
had my boat been in the water I could perhaps have made the trip but there is no
way I could take a ferry and be off the island all day without Pam wanting to
know why. And I can't risk raising her suspicions if I've borrowed $7,000 of the
church's money!
But then she said that what people had done was to use the UPS 'BondLink'
service. I wandered down to the UPS agent and picked up a leaflet for this
service, and having asked quite a few questions believe I understand it. It
seems to work like this:
- It is designed for financial instruments such as bearer securities (whatever
they are!) but he says people do use it for cash. It is ultra secure in that
details of the consignment are kept secret and if anything does not match up, it
is returned to sender.
- To use it, I need to get your full name (or that of the person collecting the
consignment) and the country of issue and number of some form of photo ID (they
recommend your passport). I then take the package and send it to a UPS agent in
Nigeria, quoting your name and ID. The package does not get a conventional
tracking number as the only person who can track it is me, by email progress
reports or through the agent here in Friday Harbor.
- You go to the agent in Nigeria, show them your ID and provide the password I
will give you. If there is a match, they will give you the package. If the
details do not match, they will not even admit that there is a package for you
(although they will tell me there has been an unsuccessful attempt to collect
the package). If after 4 days the package has not been collected, it will be
sent back to me.
This service (as you might expect) isn't cheap but seems like the only way I can
get round the lack of Western Union on the island. Presumably you are happy for
me to add the cost to my expenses when we divide up the £12.5 million?
If you are happy with this, can you let me have the name, ID type and number for
the person who will be collecting the package. Can you also tell me which of
these UPS agents is most convenient for you:
17 Olaide Tomori Street
Off Simbat Abiola Way
Ikeja
Lagos
Hallmark Bank Building
139 Broad Street
Lagos
Eleganza Plaza
1, Commercial Road
Apapa
Lagos
12 Idowu Taylor Street
Victoria Island
Lagos
I get up to 15KG for the basic fee - I know you will be coming over soon but are
there any little gifts (perhaps for friends you are leaving behind) that you
would like me to put in? We can get most things on the island, and I will not be
able to get a UPS pickup until Tuesday at the earliest. Once it is on its way, I
will tell you the arrival date and password.
I know that there is a lot of information and if anything is unclear please tell
me. Otherwise, please let me know if you want me to go ahead and send the $7,000
by UPS (and what else I should send).
I can just imagine the look on Pam's face when I tell her we are rich beyond our
dreams - thanks for making this possible. And call me if you can, but if I act
strange it is because Pam is listening!
Mail me soon, partner, I feel like we're nearly there!

weather breaks, at least with the external work!
I did email the bank on when you asked me to on Friday, and I copied you on the
email. Remember me asking you why their email address had changed? I've not
heard anything from them so could you check that they received my mail, or
should I resend it to their old address?
I'm surprised UPS in Nigeria cannot offer the Bondlink service as the impression
I was given was that it works to anywhere. I'll call in on my way to the yard
and ask again. I'm worried that with no Western Union here and no UPS with you,
we are running out of options. I'm half tempted to sew the money into the
linings of some clothes and send them to you anyway - would the bank accept say
$2,000 like this to get things moving?
Hope to hear from you soon - I don't want us to loose those millions at this
late stage.

Hiya Phil
How are you - how is your day going?
At your request I've done some more research into Western Union. There
definitely is no Western Union on the island. There is an office on a nearby
island, Anacortes, but it closed mid October and doesn't open again til Easter.
This means that the only option would be to get the ferry to Seattle. I've
thought this through but there is no way I could justify a day in Seattle to
Pam. She gets suspicious, checks the money and I'd be arrested either on the
dock at Seattle or on my return here - certainly before I've had the chance to
email you the transfer details. Sorry - I can't jeopardize everything now we're
so close.
I also asked the UPS agent about the Bondlink service to Nigeria. He said that
as far as he knew it was OK, but because of what you said I got him to check.
Turns out you were right - the service has been suspended for the last couple
months due to 'high levels of corruption in Nigerian customs'. I asked what the
options where and they told me that packages were being sent to Cotonou in Benin
which apparently is very close. They suggested I ask if you could get to Cotonou
- if I send the money tomorrow you could pick it up on Friday. I can also put
the watches in - is this OK with you?
I'm worried about what they say about corruption in Nigeria. Is it true? Are you
safe? You look after yourself.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hal

Hi Phil
It's not quite 6 in the money, but I couldn't sleep so I got up to check my
emails and found your two.
About sending the money from my account to that London bank, I don't think you
understand my situation here! This is a small island and everybody knows
everybody. I am going to borrow $7,000 in cash from the money Pam has collected
for the church hall. If I pay that money in to any of the island banks, it only
takes someone to notice the teller counting more than a hundred bills and
tongues will wag. The word will get back to Pam and it will be the end of any
plans we have. Add to that the idea of asking the teller to pay the money to a
London bank - I don't suppose anyone has asked for that all year. They will have
to make phone calls, get advice. People will talk and Pam will get to know. And
how long will it take to get the money converted out of $ and into that account?
The to get our $12m into my Citibank account. All that time I'm exposed if Pam
gets wind anything funny is happening. That's why I came up with the UPS idea -
nobody on the island need know I'm sending money and it is fast. But if that is
no good to you then we will have to come up with an alternative, but handing
over $7000 in cash while my neighbor stands in line behind me is not an option.
I hope this makes my position clear.
I understand that my situation here is making life difficult and if you want to
look for another partner I will understand. But if we can come up with a
solution which does not give an unacceptable risk of discovery, I will go for
it!

Hal

Subject:Phil please help
To:"philip adama" <adamaphilip@yahoo.com>
Hiya Phil
I've just had the worst 24 hours of my life Phil, and I'm going to need you to
help me please!
You know I said that I was taking some tourists out for a boat trip ten days
ago. Well I'm sorry to have to tell you that wasn't quite the truth. For about
18 months I've been seeing Mrs Babbister who works at the town council office
which deals with boat licensing. It's not been too serious - we get together
maybe once, twice a month. But because she issues licenses for trip boats like
mine, there could be a lot of ill feeling with my competitors if word got out.
Anyway, a week last Saturday Brenda and I set out for Kanaka Bay on the other
side of the island. We had anchored and were enjoying ourselves when Bruce
Richards, another trip boat captain, saw my boat and came alongside. In the heat
of the moment we never noticed til he was in my cockpit. I scrambled up to see
him and so did Brenda once she was decent - nothing was said but it wouldn't
take a rocket scientist to work out what was going on.
We both hoped that Bruce would be discreet and so it seemed until yesterday,
when Pam came storming back from town demanding to know what I had been doing on
my boat with 'that woman'. I have never known her so angry. I'm afraid that in
my panic I made up the best story I could in it included you! Remember that when
Patsy and Michael were here for the weekend (with Stacey) I mentioned that I had
been in touch with you - I was keeping our business secret so I told them you
worked for the Nigerian government and were investigating whether there could be
a whale watching industry in Nigeria. Well I told Pam that you had visited San
Juan at the invitation of the county boat licensing office to see how we did
things here and Mrs Babbister had invited you to spend a day on my boat
(naturally she would accompany you). I said to Pam that once we had left Friday
Harbor you had been overcome with sea-sickness and Mrs Babbister had taken you
below to lie down while I looked for somewhere to anchor. Her delay in coming up
to see Bruce and her flustered state was because she had been settling you onto
one of the bunks and cleaning up from one particularly widespread vomiting. You
had remained below decks because you would not want to be introduced to a
stranger in your fragile state.
I could tell that Pam was suspicious, but she did seem to be taking in what I
said. Then when I had finished she asked if that was all I had to say. When it
was, she thought for a while then said 'This guy Philip, the Nigerian, you're in
touch with him by email?' I said I was, so she said 'OK, get him to email me and
tell me in his own words what happened.' I was momentarily speechless, but then
said the only thing I could, which was 'yes'. So, my friend, I need one huge
favour from you please.
Can you email Pam (pamela_munster@yahoo.co.uk) and basically tell her the story
I gave her, but in your own words. Perhaps you can flesh it out a bit,
explaining how Nigeria has a coastline and whales and your government thinks
that the tourism opportunities are huge. You could explain how you flew to
Seattle via Miami, and travelled to San Juan by ferry. Say that you spent a
couple of nights in Mrs Miggins' guesthouse and how you enjoyed the island
although the cold was not to your liking, and that you were sorry you didn't
have time to visit our home but after the unfortunate incident on the boat you
needed to rest. Finally, perhaps you could say how enthusiastic you now are
about introducing whale watching in Nigeria. If you could do this for me, I will
be eternally grateful.
I received your email about putting the money in a video. Right now I daren't
move and certainly daren't touch Pam's money but with your help it will all blow
over and as soon as it does I'll do exactly as you say.
Thank you for helping me in my time of need - I'll not forget it.
Cheers, my friend,
Hal

Hi pamela,
Greetings from me a visitor that visited your island from nigeria my name is
philip.
I work with my government.I head the coastline and whales, and it was a thing
that my government thinks that the tourism opportunities are very good in the
cause of this a move to tour Americans most islands came up and i was a signed
to make the trip.
I flew from my country to Seattle via Miami, and travelled to san juan by ferry
and to enjoy my trip I spent some nights in Mrs Miggins' guesthouse i realy llke
staying in the island but the cold was much that i can not bear i felt very sick
and as God may have it i finally got to san juan and was invited by Mrs
Babbister of the county boat licensing officer to come and see how you people do
things there and Mrs Babbister asked me to spend a day with her on mr Hal's
boat.
As soon as we had left Friday Harbor,i developed a sea-sickness and Mrs
Babbister took me below the ferry to lie down while Mr HaI looked for somewhere
to anchor. Her delay in coming up to see Bruce and her flustered state was
because she had been settling me onto one of the bunks and cleaning me up from
widespread vomiting.I had remained below decks because i would not want to be
introduced to a stranger in your fragile state.
I am so sorry that i didn't have time to visit your home for a dinner but after
the unfortunate incident on the boat i needed to rest please bear with me and I
will visit you when next i come because it has to be a continues thing, and the
most important thing that made me not to regrate my mission is that my
government introducing whale watching in Nigeria and i will invite Hal and you
at the opening day.
Please help me thank your Hal for his assistance and Mrs.Babbister who took
proper care of me,I pray that God will bless them and there families.
Regards.
From PHILIP.

Dear Mr Adama
I am so glad that your visit to our island was productive and will help develop
a whole new industry in your country. Thank you for your kind invitation to the
opening day; Hal and I have never been outside the United States (and rarely out
of state) but if we can possibly join you, we will.
I was sorry to hear that you suffer from the 'mal de mer' - on the occasions I
join Hal on his boat I find that the sea is particularly choppy off Egypt Point.
Was this where things started to go wrong for you? I also find that eating the
local delicacy, poached eel, before a trip is almost guaranteed to result in
sickness. This is such a shame as Mrs Miggins is a wonder with the eels. I
wonder if you perhaps overindulged at breakfast? I will certainly look at Mrs
Babbister in a new light now I realise how she came to your aid at such a
crucial time. Where you able to see any of our whales despite your illness -
reports suggest that the great blues are particularly numerous this year.
Please do let me know how the launch of whale watching goes in Nigeria. I am
sure Hal will be only too happy to help in any way he can.
with best wishes,
Pamela

Hi Hal,
It is a cloudy day here and seems to become slow little sun makes us happy.

not remmber the past again please buy those things as i have told you and hide

Hiya Phil
Thanks for your email - I've just had another lousy night on the settee, the
second since Pam threw me out of the bedroom. I think she got your email but she
is still storming around, giving me jobs to do and basically not giving me a
moment to myself. I hope she gets over this soon and we can get some normality
back in our lives.
I agree with you that getting your $12 million would remove any memory of the
last couple of days from Pam's mind, and as soon as I can get a video I'll hide
the money and the watches and send it to you. I ordered 4 nice watches (2 gents
and 2 ladies) from Lawrence the jewellers so as soon as the 24 hour surveillance
ends I'll get down there.
Thanks for all your help, and I'm sorry to have to burden you with my problems.
We'll get that transfer sorted if its the last thing I do!
Cheers, my friend,
Hal

Dear Mr Adama
Thank you for your email, and I give you credit that you did not fall into the
obvious traps I laid in my reply to you. Nevertheless, you and I both know that
your story about visiting this island and taking a trip with my husband is a lie
from start to finish. I am sure you acted with the best of motives to help my
husband, but unfortunately Hal is unaware that I know all about his little
flings with a number of the ladies of the island of which Brenda Babbister is
only the last. I am afraid that after 37 years of marriage I take the view that
it is best to let him get on with it, as indeed I myself get on with it. His
relationship with Brenda has already lasted longer than most; Hal is in every
way a small man and struggles to satisfy anyone for more than a few months.
I haven't yet been able to get to the bottom of whatever scam you and Hal have
between you, but I intend to find out. I do not believe that you have anything
to do with the tourist industry so I assume that you had a business proposition
for Hal. Let me assure you that in this household I deal with the finances and
make the decisions, even in respect of Hal's boat and whale watching business.
Hal has about as much business sense as our pet cat and despite the impression
he may have given you, any deal which you may be doing is doomed to failure. If
there is money to be made, I suggest you discuss your proposition with me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
with best wishes,
Pamela Munster

Mr Adama
You presumably came up with a mutually beneficial proposition with Hal. However,
right now I am watching him so closely that he will be lucky to break wind
without me knowing, let alone make his fortune with you. I might be interested
in continuing whatever deal you had going although I will bring a rather more
business-critical eye to the whole thing. And, as I explained yesterday, I am
not about to phone a complete stranger on the other side of the world. Make your
proposition by the very adequate medium of email and if we both decide to take
it further, we will undoubtedly speak.
I await your email.
with best wishes,
Pamela

Hi Phil
Well to say I am surprised is an understatement! Pam centainly has been making
my life hell (this is the first time I have been able to get near my computer)
but I wasn't expecting her to approach you direct!!
As far as I am concerned, Pam is doing her utmost to keep me busy and she is
pretty much succeeding. The other thing is that on Friday she opened an account
for the church hall money and we both went to the bank to pay it in. This means
that the $7000 is now out of reach although I do have $2000 of cash savings
nobody else knows about. However, whether she or I has the share of $12 million
doesn't really matter as she will end up deciding what it is used for, so there
is more chance that the deal will go through if you let her in on it. Just one
thing - don't let on that you were doing the same deal with me as she has been
pushing me hard as to what we were doing (I get the impression she doesn't
believe the boat story) but I never let on.
Sorry I've not been able to help you in the end - and that Pam will end up
taking the credit!!
Cheers, my friend,
Hal

Hi Mikey
I haven't heard from you for a few days, and in that time I've been doing some
thinking. I have to admit that realistically, any relationship between us is not
going to work. Our backgrounds and cultures (not to mention the physical
distance between us) are such that the gap is likely to be unbridgeable.
I guess your recent silence indicates that you had come to the same conclusion.
I've enjoyed our emails and hope that you have too, and wish you the best for
your future.
with love,
Stacey
