Dear Friend,

Your first reaction to this mail will be total rejection, scare and maybe disbelief, owning largely to the atrocities people commit these days.
But this mail comes from a devastated, sorrowful and emotional laden soul that needs compassion from a kind and good spirited person to wipe away my tears and appropriate my dream and humanitarian gesture.
As you read this, I don't want you to feel sorry for me, because, I believe everyone dies someday. My name is nelson cole a merchant in Dubai,in the U.A.E.Iworked with Zambian Ministry of Mining and Resources for eight years as a contractor, I have been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer .It has defiled all forms of medical treatment,I am very worried as the doctors have informed me that its terminal.
I don't know how much time I have left on earth, hence this mail to you.I have not particularly lived my life well, as I never really cared for anyone but my business. Though I am very rich, I was never generous, I was always hostile to people and only focused on my business as that was the only thing I cared for. But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world.
I believe when God gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way from how I have lived it. Now that God has called me, I have willed and given most of my property and assets to my immediate and extended family members as well as a few close friends. I want God to be merciful to me and accept my soul hence, I decided to give alms to charity organizations, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have distributed money to some charity organizations in the U.A.E, Algeria and Malaysia.

Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this myself anymore. I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and distribute the money which I have there to charity organization in Bulgaria and Pakistan, they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence, I do not trust them anymore, as they seem not to be content with what I have left for them. The last of my money which no one knows of is the huge cash deposit of $8,000,000,00 that I have with a finance/Security Company abroad. I will want you to help me collect this deposit and dispatch it to charity organizations. I have set aside 30% for you and for your time.
Do Reply to this email address:nelson_cole_uk@yahoo.com

God be with you.
Nelson Cole.

[Oh, goody! Another missive from a dying-merchant-from-Dubai. (I tell ya, that's not the place to be, if you want to live a long life--and don't get into the merchant game, either!!!) Let's press in and try to help this pathetic fellow...]

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Sir,

How very sad I am to learn of your terrible and pathetic situation, but I am not certain that I could be of assistance to you, as I am a widow living in rural western Iowa.

I am new to computers, and I can't understand how you could have got my Email address in just the 2 weeks I have had my machine. These new contraptions are sure a wonder! My daughter-in-law, Deb, won't believe it when I tell her about this offer of yours!

I am curious to know how I will be able to help you, being so far away and all.

Sincerely, Claire D. Lune

Dear Friend,

I am in receipt of your mail and the conveyed contents.I assure you that this task/noble venture is completely legal and devoid of the slightest risk .
Now, I want you to collect this money and help me dispatch it to charity organizations of your choice and volition. I am counting on you with the last gasp of my breathe and what is left of my unbecoming life, please do not disappoint me.If possible, I would want a list of the charity organizations and how you plan to dispatch the money to them.
I would want these charity organizations to know that it is I,Nelson Cole who has made this generous donation, and for them to pray for God to accept my soul.Note that my condition as you can see in the attached photographs will not permit me to leave the hospital for one minute. Please I do not want any member of my family to know about this, because they might do everything to stop you from collecting the money and keep it for themselves.
Find attached my hospital pictures. These pictures will help you understand my condition.I live in pains everyday of my life and it is just by God's grace that I go through any given day I await your urgent response.
Please because of my health,I would want you to contact my Attorney, Jude Chike so that he would tell you what to do as it is going to be hard for me to be getting up to my PC on daily basis until this transaction is concluded.this is his e-mail address: judechike20@yahoo.co.in Telephone +44-7040119114. I await your response and feed back
God Bless You

[He attaches the famous 2 hospital-pictures, previously seen in several scams (~ahem~in one of which, I dueled (as raynaz) with "Norman Bates", also a merchant-from-Dubai-with-esophageal-cancer-which-has-defiled (sic)-all-forms-of-medical-treatment, (readers may recall I kept addressing him as "Master Bates"), he also sends a "British passport". All images are so small, you can't tell who they are--they aren't the same guy, though. The fellow in the passport photo sorta looks like Gene Hackman, 30 years ago! Let's see where this merry chase leads us...]

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Mr. Nelson Cole,

I'm sorry, but the images are so small, I can't see the them clearly. Even still, they don't appear to be of the same person. The man in the passport picture seems to be much heavier, and of a different nationality. How can you explain this? Can you send them again, larger this time?

I am willing to assist you in your hours of need, as I think your noble gesture of giving away the remaining part of your fortune is admirable indeed, sort of like atoning for your past sins. I know of 2 worthwhile charities here in West Iowa, that would benefit immensly from your generosity. My favorite charity is the Chula Vista Widows and Orphans Home.

I will contact your attorney later this morning. I am replying now to you, so that you will know that I am here for you, but I must run now or be late for my CVWO duties. This is one of the charities I mentioned, every Saturday I go to their shelter, and help them with their ablutions.

I will write you again after I have written to your attorney.

Please do re-send your pictures. I like to know with whom I am corresponding.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Claire D. Lune

[Ever true to my word, I fire off a kindly letter to the "lawyer"...]

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Sir,

Mr. Nelson Cole directed me to contact you, regarding the donations he plans to make in the few weeks he has left on this Earth. I am filled with admiration at the generous nature of this man, I can't believe that someone so close to death would have such a selfless and considerate thought, even while enduring his own agony.

I have just recently become somewhat familiar with the computer, I only got it a few short weeks ago. I have been widowed for 2 years, and my daughter-in-law, Deb, says I have to "get with it" and join the 21st century, so I bought one, and just now, I set up my own Email account, under my own name. I feel so modern!

Mr. Cole just this morning, wrote me of his pathetic life. He even sent pictures of himself and, may I say, he does look terrible!! I can only imagine his suffering.

What can we do to help this miserable creature?

Will you reply as soon as you can? From his pictures, Mr. Cole looks to be "knocking on Heaven's door", I wonder how he can even sit at a computer to write. What a brave man.

Sincerely, Claire D. Lune

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Mr. Jude Chike,

Thank you for your prompt response, I'm sorry that I couldn't get to reply until today, but Mother's Day was yesterday, and my entire family came here for a picnic. It was wonderful, I didn't even have to cook, as my children brought all the food! I have 6 sons, Hubert Jr, Dewaine, Lewis, William ("Dub"), the twins Michael and Angelo, and 4 daughters, Annette, Hannah, Danielle, and Vanessa. They had all (47) of my grandchildren with them, so it was a wonderful day for me, but exhausting.

1)You need to send me your full Name CLAIRE DELLA LUNE
2)Direct Phone Number and fax
3)Your Banking Details where this Money will be wired into 1st National State Bank, 117 N. Western Ave, Podunk, IA, 54195
4)Your Company Name ,Age and Home Address NO COMPANY (I DO NOT WORK, MY LATE HUSBAND'S PENSION IS MY INCOME) I AM 63 YEARS OLD.

I MAY BE NEW TO COMPUTERS, BUT I KNOW ENOUGH NOT TO GIVE MY ADDRESS AND TELEPHONE NUMBER TO A TOTAL STRANGER

I hope I didn't make a huge mistake, I told my daughter-in-law, Deb (she's married to William--that's his name, but everybody calls him "Dub"), about this Mr. Nelson Cole, but you say to:

"...keep this to your self alone..."

I didn't know this was supposed to be kept confidential. I was so excited about being able to help poor, miserable Mr. Cole, that I just blurted it out. If you feel this is a terrible error, and do not want to continue with me, I will be very disappointed, but I will understand. It was simply ignorance on the part of a foolish old woman.

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Mr. Jude Chike,

Deb and I have been discussing this, and we are wondering if the "payment center" is in Washington STATE, or Washington, D.C. I don't know if you are aware of this, but they are at opposite sides of the country, nearly 3,000 miles apart!

Would we have to travel to the payment center to sign any papers? It would be advantageous to know in which direction one should point one's nose, right? I wouldn't want to go the wrong way, and we'd have to get tickets.

Now, I must be as adamant as I dare, but I will give my banking information ONLY to the bank, as I do not want my private account particulars to be passed around from person to person. It's not that I don't trust you, understand, but I think the wisdom of privacy is essential to one's financial well-being, don't you? One never know what kind of thief or robber lurks about these days, does one?

Will you please have one of the bank's representatives contact me as soon as possible? We don't want Mr. Nelson Cole's generous wishes and donations to be delayed any longer than absolutely necessary.

Sincerely, Claire D. Lune

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Mr. Jude Chike,

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but a series of storms have destroyed our telephone service here in west Iowa, perhaps you heard about it on your news stations. They tell us that it will be a few weeks until phone service is restored. I'm just glad that I don't have to rely on the telephone for my Internet connection, thanks to Deb, I have cable modem, and that doesn't require dial-up. But we had to unplug the computer anyway, and store it in a safe place. Sad to say, our vegetable garden is pretty torn up, so we will be out in force, to try to save what we can.

We've had several terrible storms in the past 4 days, and Deb and I had to take shelter in the storm cellar. Thanks to our lucky stars, and good planning, we had plenty of food and water, and several dozen bottles of home-made elderberry and gooseberry wine, so that was a very civilized touch. Deb even found a long-forgotten bottle of dandelion wine, it had aged nicely, and it now has a kick like a mule! We'll save the rest of it for a "special occasion"!

Our old generator provided us with basic electricity--no TV, or anything like that, but we had a battery radio, and so we had a slight connection to the "outside world". Our animals all weathered the storms, they know how to find a safe haven in rough weather, but they are so hungry!

I have to sign off now, Deb needs to Email her husband (my son, William, also known as "Dub") who is in the Caribbean, working with a recovery company, and let him know we're OK after all the storms. They're searching for lost merchant ships from the 1800's, thinking there will be a treasure aboard. They just might find some, too, because they're using all kinds of new sonar and radar gadgets, and computers, and GPS soundware. I don't understand it, but Dub says it is very exciting. We'll see.

Thank you for your patience, and I hope you understand about the telephones.

Sincerely, Claire D. Lune

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Mr. Mark Norbert,

I am sorry for this delay. We had another storm, which necessitated another day in the storm cellar. I don't know if Mr. Chike told you, but our weather here has been terrible this Spring! We had a series of storms earlier this month that kept me and my daughter-in-law, Deb, under shelter for 4 days, and now another day. This year may be the worst in history, the weatherman says.

Fortunately, we keep the cellar well-stocked, just for emergencies, but we'll have to go into town today for supplies, especially batteries for the radio. We cracked open a bottle of nice elderberry wine to have with our baloney sandwiches, and after our little supper, we had a shot of our dandelion wine--that's about all a body should have at one time. That stuff must be 150-proof by now! Man, what a buzz it'll give you, if you drink too much of it!

It's really a nuisance to have to pack away all the valuables, and the computer, everytime we get a storm, but what's a body to do? We have to try to save as much as possible, should a really bad storm hit us.

You mention a missing document, some insurance paper that I need to send. I'm sorry, but I know nothing of this, Mr. Chike didn't tell us about any documents of that nature. Will you please tell me what you are talking about? Where would we acquire such a document? I'm sure our insurance agent, Jack Huff, might be aware of this insurance paper, but I certainly am not. I will call Jack later this morning and ask him about it, when his office opens. Right now, it's still very early in the day, too early for businesses to start functioning.

We still don't have any telephone service, all the lines are still down and the telephone company says that all their linemen are so busy, they might have to call in temporary workers from another state--I sure hope they can get that nice lineman from Wichita, again. His name was Glen something-or-another, and he sure "rocked my world like a rhinestone cowboy"! (That's what we gals at the CVWO auxiliary say, when we talk about a handsome man)

I hope we can get the phone working again, the only way my children can find out if we're OK, is by the Email. My sons, Hubert Jr, Dewaine, and Lewis are so worried about me, but as long as Deb is here with me, then Huey, Dewey, and Lewie don't have be too concerned.

I hope to hear from you soon about this insurance paper you wrote me about.

The cost of documents is going up. Inflation has hit, but naiveté gets the upper hand, so he'll have to wait for it...

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Mr. Mark Norbert,

As you know, we've had to spend a lot of time in the storm cellar these days, so I have to apologize again for this delay. I don't know how you feel about this, but Deb and I think this is just getting to be too much! It seems that every other day, we've had to pack up all the valuables, go to the storm cellar, and wait out the storm.

One thing is very fortunate, though. My husband, Hubert Sr. was far-sighted enough to build a "storm cellar" for the animals, so they can be safe from the bad weather. We had quite a struggle getting them into it this time, but we finally got them all in OK. They have access to water there, and a little food, so they can survive. At least we can be grateful for that!

My vegetable garden is just a wreck, however. At this late date, we should just plow it under and forget about the garden for this year. If the storms let up for any length of time, we'll have to get a few of the boys out here to do that little chore. We probably have enough canned vegetables to last us, anyway.

About this payment. Why don't you go ahead and approve it, and we'll split the cost of it with you. That seems fair--after all, we stand to receive $2.4 million dollars from Mr. Nelson Cole, he promised us 30% of his $8,000,000.00, and you ARE doing most of the work, while Deb and I huddle down in the storm cellar until the inclement weather blows over.

Sincerely, Claire D. Lune

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Mr. Mark Norbert,

Now I understand what you mean. You want me to send you $6,500.00 so that you can process the document. Why didn't you say so in the first place?

That seems like a rather large amount for one document, is there some sort of explanation for such a large amount?

I would appreciate a more detailed listing of the charge, so that I can explain the reason for such a large withdrawal from my savings account. I'm sure my banker, Mr. Meyer, would question me about this, as he is the overseer of my late husband's estate, and any substantial money matters have to be approved by him. When he learns that I will benefit to the tune of $2.4 MILLION dollars, I'm sure he will be agreeable to approving the withdrawal. Oscar is gruff, but he's also a good businessman.

The bank is closed today for the national holiday, but I will go into town tomorrow to make the arrangements.

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Mr. Mark Norbert,

I was about to leave for the bank, I will meet with my banker, Mr. Oscar Meyer, to arrange for the money transfer to:

BANK OF NEW YORK
N.Y SWIFT CODE:IRVTUS3N
A/C NO 890-0273-844
BENEF:TRAVELEX
(HK)TD,IN FAVOUR OF KAWA WATCH
MANUFACTURING LTD

But I got to thinking, and this confuses me--why would I deposit money into the account of a WATCH MANUFACTURING company, when the money belongs to Mr. Nelson Cole? That makes no sense. Besides, I've never even heard of KAWA watches. Who are they, and where is their manufacturing facility?

How do I know that the money will actually be immediately transferred into MY banking account, when your people don't even know my account number? How, exactly, does this work? I live near a small town, and everybody knows me, but wouldn't you need my bank account number?

And I understand that some sort of insurance papers must be validated, but why is it necessary to involve the Homeland Security? Those folks have enough to do, without poking into banking affairs, don't they?

I understand investing money in order to make money, but if I'm going to put up $6,500.00, we should set some things straight. That's a pretty hefty chunk of money, and Mr. Oscar Meyer is going to ask some questions, and I want to be able to give him some plausible answers.

Otherwise, we might not be able to help Mr. Nelson Cole distribute his money to worthy charities, and that would be a shame. I am really looking forward to being a part of this noble and generous gesture. I sure hope he lives long enough to see a satisfying result of his giving, as his lawyer, Mr. Jude Chike, says he may not live much longer. I am sure we all would like to see Mr. Cole's money put to good causes (I hope we can include my own favorite charity, the Chula Vista Widows' and Orphans' Fund--I told you about them, I think, I go every Saturday morning to help them with their ablutions.)

Please answer my questions, so I'll have something to tell Mr. Meyer when I go into town to the bank.

Sincerely, Claire D. Lune

Can we urge the Lad along? This goes out Tuesday noon...

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Mr. Mark Norbert,

I had hoped you would reply to my mail I sent a few hours ago, in which I asked you a few questions about this matter of Mr. Nelson Cole's money and the transfer that will take place.

The reason I am anxious is that the bank will be closing its doors for the day in just a little while, and it does take me some time to get to town and get in to see Mr. Meyer. If there is another delay, it will mean that I can't see about the $6,500.00 wire-transfer until tomorrow (that is, if there are no storms brewing!--that's always a factor.)

Is there some problem on your end?

Sincerely, Claire D. Lune
I get an evasive, but firm, reply...

Dear Mr. Mark Norbert,

I asked you some questions, and I want some answers.

1) KAWA watches. Who are they, and where is their manufacturing facility?
2) How do I know that the money will actually be immediately transferred into MY banking account, when those people don't even know my account number?
3) Don't you need my bank account number?
4) Why is it necessary to involve the Homeland Security?

If I'm going to put up $6,500.00, we should set some things straight.

Now, with all your delays, the bank is now closed, and I can't get the money anyway, until tomorrow. I hope you're happy.

Sincerely, Claire D. Lune

An answer arrives, and is clear as mud. Hmmmm, I wonder what kinds of costumes are involved, pirates? space aliens? hoboes? clowns? I'm perplexed by the run-on sentence. What could it mean?

Early Fridy morning, I finally get back to him...

CLAIRE D. LUNE

Dear Mr. Mark Norbert,

I am so sorry for not writing, but you are aware of our weather situation here in western Iowa. We had another really bad storm the other day, and we just got ourselves back together this morning! Today dawns bright and sunny, so we will be able to straighten things out around here. Let me tell you what happened...

Just after you wrote to me on Wednesday, we had another storm alert, so Deb and I quickly put the animals in their "storm cellar" with plenty of food and water, we disconnected the appliances and put the computer away safe. Then we grabbed some groceries from the refrigerator and pantry and took them to our place of refuge under the house.

We took some clean clothes, some water, gas for the generator, and down into the storm cellar we went! We barely made it, before the storm hit. We've been underground for more than 2 days. I sure hope the bad weather is over for a while now.

My niece, Dorothy, was supposed to come out to visit, with her little dog Toto, but I don't know where on Earth she could be. I hope she didn't try to travel during the storm.

We have so much to do around here today, the clean-up chores will keep us busy for most of the day--even with the help of some of my sons! I don't think I will be able to get into town to arrange for the transfer of $6,500.00 until tomorrow. The bank is open until noon on Saturdays, and Mr. Meyer will be there to assist me.

Sincerely, Claire D. Lune
