SOLOMON JULIET - scammer du jour

versus

SIR MARMITE LUNY-BINNS - diplomatic protocol and policy advisor to the Foreign Office
SIR CHARLES FARNES-BARNES - financial advisor to the Foreign Office

They are both a little vague on the post-colonial realities, but sharp enough when it comes to looking out for number one!
They also have superb taste in wines.

And in supporting roles:
EIDUR ROBBEN-KEZMAN - Sir Charles's assistant
LADY AGATHA BRISTOL, CBE - of the Foreign Office - guest appearance

Dearest One,

By introduction, I am SOLOMON JULIET Sierra Leonean and son of late DR IBRAHIM JULIET .Before the death of my father he disclosed to me about the total sum of $22 million US dollarshe deposited under a suspense account with a bank in Abidjan Cote d Ivoire. This fund represent the huge Sales of Gold and Diamond he diverted while in office as the director general for Gold and Diamond Mining Co-Opretionin in SierraLeone .For security reason according to my late father,

he made an agreement with the bank that his partner/beneficiary will come forward to submit his banking details for onward transfer of the fund to his account. DR IBRAHIM JULIET , my late father advice me in case if he dies that I should look for a for eigner who will stand as the beneficiary of the fund so that the fund will be transfer to his/her account for partnership investment. Right now, I am in Abidjan Ivory Coast, transferring this fund to a trustworthy account .

Meanwhile, I am writing to know if you can stand as the beneficiary of the fund and to also provide me your banking details so that I will submit it to the bank for transfer of the fund for partnership investment you will introduce in your country. Dear Solomon

I am amazed how you should have got hold of this private e-mail, but your kind offer has greatly intrigued us.

Please tell us more, and reassure us that this is not sort of joke. We get so much these days from any number of colonial tom dick or harrys, with a mind to ask for charity.

I have taken the liberty of copying this message to my colleague, Dr Charles Farnes Barnes who is in charge of our investment sector. He has some experience with the Third World and I am sure between us we will see you get what you deserve.

As an international banker of many years experience I realise that certain fees may be incurred and it would be best if you let me know as soon as possible if such fees are payable. This will allow us to complete our business quickly.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Yours truly,

DADDY
I thank you immensely for your quick response to my proposal and i say may this mail find you well and all the blessings of the almighty Lord shall follow you in all your endeavours of life.

With your response i am quite convinced of your person and ready to transact this business with you on the basis of the trust which i am beginning to have on you, i pray that the most high God be with you in all your endeavours in life.

In response to my proposal, my father when he was alive deposited the fund in a bank under a "suspence fixed excrow account"here when his business was flourishing and used my name as the only heir alive to be the next of kin in respect to the promises that he made to my mother before her death on the hospital bed 1984 that he will not marry another woman in order for me and my younger sister not to be maltreated in any way, this he has kept till his last minute in this wicked world which we live today.

When i went to visit my father on the hospital before his death, he told me everything about this money and gave me all relevant documentary proof regards to the claim but he stressed out that i need the assistance of a foreign partner who will assist me in the claim because according to him he did insert a clause on the money that his foreign business partner who is also the beneficiary of the said fund will be coming for the claim but his name and contact was withhold from the bank, i believe my father did it this way for security purpose or he must have confided to some one whom he was unable to disclose to me before his death.

Now, on one occassion when i went to the bank to see if i can claim some money for medical treatment of my younger sister, i was denied access by the bank, in response they told me that my father entered an agreement with them that until i will be 30 years of age before the money will be release to me or if the beneficiary comes whose name is concealed.

With regards to this i was shown the agreement entered between my father and the bank where i confirm all my father told me before his death and that of the bank but in addidtion it was clearly stated that i the next of kin or the depositor who is my father will be the one to appoint the account to which the money can be transfered, since my dad is dead i will be the one to do just that .

This has compel me to contact you in this regards as the long awaited beneficiary of the fund in the bank by forwarding you r viable and legitmate bank account details which i will submit to the bank with your contact informtions as belonging to my late father's foreign partner and the co-beneficiary of the fund as well for the transfer to be effected believing that you will not sit on this money when it is confirmed in your account.

Based on this sir, i sincerely beg for your understanding of a mutual benefit and belive that i did not contact you out of selfish interest rather it is for a mutual benefit. All i am requesting from you now is for your to open thet new bank acount as you have promised and then forward to me the full information, On receipt of the above informations i will move to the bank to submit the informations as belonging to my late fathers foreign partner and the co-beneficiary of the fund also i will forward to you the documents of deposit issued to my late father on the day he made the deposit with the bank for your perusal and to enable you contact the bank for the quick transfer of the said fund in your nominated bank account.

Permit me to ask you some few questions; How old are you ? Are you married if yes how many kids have you? what is your religion? Will you take me as part of you? Will you promise to keep all documents and coresspondence confidential considering my plights and sittuation? I wait your quick response in this regards.

Finally Sir, i do not have the access of international call for we are at the present under the assylum camp, so i kindly beg you to reply me as soon as posible for us to have better discussions of more understanding. I once again say a big thanks to you and may the almighty Lord bless you and guide you in all your endeavours of life.

Thanks.

Yours sincerely
solomon

Dear Solomon

I am touched that you have written back so promptly, and in so much detail. It shows to my mind just what a deserved case you really are. Although in normal business relations I might take your several questions as rather impertinent, on this occasion I am prepared to offer the details you request.

In short sir, I am 56, married to Lady Agatha Bristol, with two children. I am Church of England (and in fact proudly led a rousing chorus of 'Lord God, Unto Thee We Pledge Our Vimto' at the cathedral only last weekend before the congregation). As for discretion, you may rest assured that We will see that your case receives exactly the sort of privacy it deserves. I hope this answers your concerns.

If I may, I would like to pose some questions to your good self: can I, by return, be assured of your complete confidence? Do you have many wives? And most importantly, are you willing to sign The Oath of Temporary Obedience in this our prospective royal business? Palace protocol being what it is, I am afraid this must be attended to before we can proceed, and in rather short order, I am sure you understand. It is a prerequisite before any business is agreed by the household here, and requires you to sign a document and submit photographic proof of identity.

Meanwhile, in response to the other query in his e-mail to you, perhaps you may care to send details of any bank fees that may be payable to complete our business. This will also save time.

Dear Solomon and Juliet

I am very concerned by the way this business is proceeding. I have tried to get in contact with your Mr Baps twice now but nothing has happened by way of response. Can you try and hurry the fellow along? He needs to get his communications in order as a matter of urgency.

Have you spoken to Mr Farnes Barnes yet?

As it happens I may be visiting your part of the world shortly. Perhaps a face to face meeting at the local Hilton would speed along matters?
